actually neither of the sejins are druggies! however, one of them was indeed involved in a drug scandal. this was actor lee sejin, as big/keun sejin doesn’t debut in the original timeline (bcs of the bullying scandal of ~ch40). as for why actor lee sejin of STier got involved in the scandal, there are two reasons: his agency from when he was an actor, and his father. his agency (dream K) was, simply put, pretty shit, and wanted sejin back after he debuted and got popular as an idol, even if it meant tarnishing his image with rumours. but that’s not enough to get him arrested, right? well, it wouldn’t have been if not for his father, who was actually a gambling addict and drug dealer, unbeknownst to sejin himself until the situation blew up. actually, it could be argued that his father alone is the reason sejin got arrested under suspicion of dealing drugs, but i personally believe his father’s behaviour alone wouldn’t have been grounds for arrest, and his former agency probably had a hand in making sejin himself seem like an accomplice. iirc the situation with his former agency happens/is explained in ~ch70, and with his father in ~ch90 (tho i’m really not sure, but it’s def before 100).


as for moondae’s original body (ryu gunwoo), actor lee sejin doesn’t have anything to do with his parents’ death. if that’s all you wanted to know, then stop reading here, cuz i’ll go into a lot of detail. although i don’t know where you got this info from or if it’s speculation, ryu gunwoo’s parents didn’t actually die in a car crash, but in a fire. and there is another testar member involved in their deaths, namely ryu chungwoo (notice the similarity between both of their names?). ryu gunwoo and ryu chungwoo are both part of the same pungsan ryu clan, and when gunwoo was in middle school, their clan went on a trip together. gunwoo himself (who was in middle school at the time) didn’t go, as he was busy studying for english exams, but his parents did. and so did ryu chungwoo. the family met up to go to a cabin where they would spend their family gathering. on the way there, the bus they were all on got in an accident. luckily, only one person was harmed in this accident: ryu chungwoo. he injured his arm and rushed off to the hospital right away with his parents. the rest of the family went to the cabin through other means. however, when they just got to the wooden cabin, it started catching fire, and many clan members, including gunwoo’s parents, passed away.
also, this incident is the reason why ryu chungwoo quit archery to become an idol. he recovered well from the accident, but after-effects started showing up years later, and his hands would tremble when he put too much strength in them. because of this, he had to quit archery. his parents recalled how much chungwoo liked dancing and singing as a kid and encouraged him to accept when a distant relative (writer ryu seorin, who scouted moondae) invited/scouted him to appear on idol inc’s relished season.


i ended up typing a lot so sorry about that, but if you’ve read this much you might as well read the novel cuz it’s told in a way more interesting way than i could ever hope to do.
