Sry I forget which chaps but ML mother was a beautiful commoner who married up. Sh*t emperor lusted after her so he purposefully sent her duke husband away before trapping and r*ping her in the palace for over a month iirc. Everyone knew but still blamed her for "seducing" the emperor. The victim blaming was so crazy even children including CP said and truly believed it was her fault. Luckily her husband saved her and treated ML like his real son. W husband and father

Iirc the Duke simply fell ill and died much later but ML's mom was actually murdered by the sh*t emperor not long after ML was born. She overheard the emperor's plans and was thrown off a bridge disguised as a suicide.
Pos literally did everything he could to make her miserable. After his month of torture, he actually pressured the Duke to divorce her and when he refused, he sadistically told him she was pregnant with his child. Thankfully the Duke loved and believed in her innocence. He fought for her against the emperor and his family! May this love find all of us. I hope they're together and happy next life!
Side note, in case you didn't hate the royal family to your full potential, I'm so glad ML was born as a guy. There were times where he felt the emperor stare at him eerily and mention how he looked like his mom. That monster was reliving what he did whenever he saw ML. Imagine if he was a girl... I shudder to think about it
