Dang, I just remembered this story and was curious if it's already complete (and I'm so
happy it was).
Tbh, at the beginning I was already rooting for Jeffrey to be endgame, and at that time there were talks about Evan being the ML (no offense, he's adorable but I just think of his and Lottie's relationship to be that of Mother and son, since he was taken in when he was young and Lottie wouldn't think of smth like that towards her disciple she RAISED.)
So yeah, I was quite heartbroken for Jeffrey at that time and decided to forget this story. But now, I'm glad I did. I get to binge this story in one go and then my Baby (Jeffrey) became the endgame ε=ε=(ノ≧∇≦)ノ
Uwaaaaa, I'm so happy!! I really lovee the ending and the overall story. I wish I could forget and re-read this again ╥﹏╥
Honestly, I don’t get why some people blame the MC. He’s just setting boundaries while the ML’s clearly playing push-and-pull games. I’ve read plenty of stories like this, and it’s refreshing to see an MC not falling so easily. Would love more novels where the MC refuses to play along with manipulative tactics.
Ugh, that so-called "father" of Matthias... I seriously fucking hate him. How can you do that to a child, let alone your own son? Pretending to have a perfect, happy family while committing domestic and child abuse behind closed doors... it's disgusting. He should’ve been beaten black and blue—left to right, top to bottom—before dying. No one deserves that kind of abuse, especially from someone whose role is supposed to be protecting them.
Yuna’s Situation: Damned if You Do, Damned if You Don’t.
I’ll be completely honest, yeah, I get why people are annoyed with Yuna. I was too, at one point. But let’s be real for a second, no matter what she does, she’s going to get hate.
When it comes to improvement, she has been getting better. In the early chapters, she was basically useless in battle, like remember that scene with the guy kidnapping people and stuffing them into luggage? She couldn’t even help then. But now? She may still be weak, but at least she tries to be useful. She’s making an effort to fight, to support, even when it’s obvious she’s outmatched.
So let’s say she doesn’t help, people would still hate her for being “dead weight.” But she helps? Still gets hated for being “weak.” That’s what I mean when I say "damned if you do, damned if you don’t."
And don’t forget that Yuna’s still D-Rank. She’s not experienced in combat. She’s not a veteran like the sniper lady or the blind woman, or any female characters y’all keep comparing her to. Those women (and men) have years of battle behind them. Of course they’re going to seem more capable. Of course Yuna’s gonna look “dumb” in comparison.
You’re out here comparing her to people who are basically top-tier powerhouses like the mc, the others, even the villains. Yuna’s barely climbed the ladder, and suddenly she’s supposed to be on their level?
So yeah, she’s gonna get called weak no matter what she does. But at least she’s out there "trying to help" Peter, even if it’s clearly risky and probably hopeless. Call it foolish, sure but also recognize that it’s kind.
So again: Damned if you do, damned if you don’t. At least she’s still trying tho.
Oh boy, I clicked this story not knowing any spoilers or anything regarding it (cuz I tried so hard not to spoil myself in the past), and I kid you not when I say I legit sobbed so hard on chapter 73 . To the point where I cannot contain the sounds of me crying in the middle of the fucking night anymore .

Dangg, first time I've read an MC's that so cool and interesting right of the bat.
