I forgot the title of this manhwa. Plz help! It’s a straight romance in a world where there’s a popular VR dating app. The FL got broken up with by her handsome boyfriend and decided to give this VR dating thing a try.
She meets a guy wearing a unicorn avatar there, who has a great body and she fell in love. They did a face reveal blahblahblah then she found out that he’s inexperienced in the romance department. (▰˘◡˘▰)
So I was at Walmart with my mother, but we went our separate ways to shop. I was done looking for my items and was going to meet up with my mom to get them checked out together. She then called and asked me to get a carton of eggs. When I met up with her, she was already in front of the line getting her items checked out. So I went up and gave the cashier four more items. This is when an old lady behind me groaned and said “so rude”. I just ignored her bc it’s whatever.
However, she kept complaining so I asked her what her problem was. She said that I was cutting in line to which I responded and explained that I was paying with my mother and it’s just a few items. She went on to say that it’s still cutting in line and that my mom already paid (my mom didn’t finish paying yet) so this transaction was done.
At this point, I got really annoyed because it’s nine in the freaking morning and I don’t have the patience to talk semantics with some lunatic in the middle of a freaking Walmart. I began arguing, reminding her that it’s just a Walmart line and how she’s the rude one for complaining about something so simple. It got to the point where I asked the cashier if she was alright with it, but she just gave me a meek smile (which in hindsight was not wise of me to make her get in the middle of the argument since she was just doing her job) and didn’t say anything.
As I walked away from the check out counter, I was still arguing with the lady. She yelled out something which I couldn’t quite catch, but in the heat of the moment I just retorted with “She’s so fucking rude ugh!” lol I was so irritated but now I wonder if i was in the wrong…
I bet the cashier agreed with her or was saying something to calm her down bc I saw them talking after I left. There was also a couple behind the old lady, but they didn’t say anything during this whole ordeal. Maybe now they think badly about Asian people Not to make everything about race - it’s just that everyone was White in this situation except me and my mom. Usually I don’t say anything, but would get really frustrated afterwards, knowing I let some stranger step all over me. So this time, even though I was flustered, I made sure I spoke up.
Perhaps subconsciously at the time, I didn’t want them to think Asian people were weak and that she could talk to me however she wanted just because we were different.
I tried finding some Reddit posts about similar situations to calm myself down, but couldn’t find any… ╥﹏╥
From what you said, that woman just sounds like a very entitled karen who is just interested in ruining people's mental peace early in the morning. You're not in the wrong here, so DW. You did the right thing by standing up for yourself.
getting into public arguments isn't really the best thing ever (especially in a shopping center), but she shouldn't have continued complaining after that "so rude" remark. both of you could've been better, but she was in the wrong for just continuing on, even after you explained it to her!! some people just don't listen to others and only say what they wanna say... （￣へ￣）

Thank you! I was slightly worried about what the consensus would be on here. If I was wrong, I would have to do a lot of self reflection and possibly go apologize to her just thinking about it is pissing me off due to her smug attitude.
That’s true. After I calmed down, I thought about how awkward it must’ve been for the cashier and those nearby to witness an argument first thing in the morning. But honestly now I feel vindicated. I already explained it to her politely, thinking she misunderstood and thought I was a separate customer who just randomly skipped in line for the hell of it. (▰˘◡˘▰)
Thank you! Just trying to vent to blow some steam off. It made me think about how I forgot an item while in line at the Dollar Tree store before and went back in line, but the cashier ushered me forward to scan it with the rest of my item so （￣へ￣）this situation isn’t unheard of.
damn they must be hella sensitive, cuz cmon we all know that if someone cuts cuz they know someone that’s fine i don’t see the problem, i was a cashier once and ppl go in front of ppl all the time cuz they forgot to buy smt and i let them cuz no one cared since they would only bring few items, u just happen to unlucky that u had to encounter those ppl. Hopefully u feel better now, don’t get to down bout it there’s a bunch of rude ppl out there ٩(๑❛ᴗ❛๑)۶

I hate it too. Gave me a bit of anxiety during the aftermath since I dislike sudden confrontation. But thank you for your reassurance ヾ(❀╹◡╹)ﾉ~ I don’t know why I was the one feeling embarrassed when it should be her since she started this whole mess.

It's Walmart. I don't know why, but people can't seem to restrain themselves from acting out there. Unfortunately, you allowed her drag you down to her level. It's best not to engage with any crazies there- especially "Karens", because you're basically rewarding them by reacting to them. You knew you didn't do anything wrong, so once you stated that you were with your mother, you should've just ignored her because her continuing to argue made it apparent that nothing was going to convince her she was wrong.
I wouldn't worry about the couple in back. You have no way of knowing WHAT they were thinking. They likely didn't want to get involved because of the reputation of Walmart having unhinged customers, so they did the smart thing and ignored the verbal altercation. Now that you've blown off steam, don't let this incident take up permanent residence in your head. You're a good person and you're only human. Let it go.

I’m stunned because this was truly the first time I’ve ever ran into a Walmart Weirdo. Usually it’s so peaceful and everyone mind their own business. Well this is a small town and there’s only one Walmart here compared to where I lived before with multiple stores in the same block, so I guess it’s inevitable to run into these type of people.
And you’re right. You can’t argue with someone this entitled in good faith. Nothing will make them admit they’re wrong plus they will just talk smack about me afterwards, regardless of whether or not I engage with them. I’ll try to have another strategy in mind if I ever have to end up in this situation again ┗( T﹏T )┛but I might slip up and try to defend myself when feeling flustered and frustrated.
