Maybe they don't find it that interesting anymore. A little too realistic of a story (that includes weak MCs) would make the plot boring and uninteresting because reality is often boring but dark. (but it still depends tho)
I don't hate weak mc's.
But in my opinion, it just depends on the story. I'm okay with mc's that grows strong or stays weak...... reply
