This is one of the anime that makes me hate shoujo. Sorry for most of the time i think mai is annoying and i like the other girl more. I mostly stay for naru and other characters
Wish gene showed up in her dreams afterward to say goodbye. I think Naru is a pain and I wish his character got slightly better at least, I think underneath he is just like gene with emotions. :/ Poor Mai
You know what? Fine they don’t end up together. BUT does it make sense for him to be like “are you sure it’s me or Gene?”. I’m like homie was presented as a dream, for Mai to fall in love with him would also have to do with her constant interactions with him. Plus he had his sweet moments. Smiled that smile. The dreams showcased another side of Naru not what she perceived as a whole ass other person. She fell in love with Naru which was amplified my Gene (lowkey like their powers )
I’m just saying I don’t like that cop out of her being like “oh it was Gene I loved all along”. It makes more sense if she was just confused who she really loved and if she really loved either bc she always viewed them as the same person.
the last chapter totally ignores all the times naru had saved mai and comforted her. and tbh mai hardly knew gene, she just saw him in her dreams. whereas with naru she was able to get to know his bad and good sides, and accept them all.
I mean, she's a teenager, it's perfectly normal to misunderstand your own feelings of like, love, interest, infatuation etc when you're at that age. Ringo
True. But the author was going to make them end up together but decided they can’t write romantic stories or isn’t typical of them. Which is fine but I don’t like how it was a build up of Naru and Mai which was intentional. To have it concluded by she only loved Gene and it was him all along. No questions asked just that.

EXACTLY. That’s how I feel! Gene was a dream and in the real world Mai saw a similar side to Naru that was like that. She saw both the sweet and sour of how character. I can see her having infatuation and caring side to Gene but Naru is who I feel was more developed with her.
They were supposed to be together but author decided against it cause they aren’t for romance. I’m fine with that but I think it was weird to have Mai be like “I loved Gene all along” compared to her questioning who was it she actually loved few pages before. She was feeling fluttery and jealous towards Naru in the real world. And she always thought that was dream Naru. She saw sides of him that were similar to the dream and his bad sides n still fell for him.
If they didn’t end up together okay I can live with that. But not that weird thing with Gene
