Made me cried so many times cause I can empathize Mei so much with her life changing and her background story about her father. I did watched the anime after finished reading, and reading the manga made it more understandable what's going on in the anime. The anime is pretty solid and love the voice actors they made to voice the characters too.

~Spoilers~

My only concern was the twins in the later chapters. Do wish there was more of them develop. But it was probably used for getting Mei figure out her career path and Kai love interest more interesting.

I hate the college arc it fucking hurts (this is why I hate girl bestfriends),, also the only green flag character here is Kai, the author should've paired her with Asami instead of her creepy bf and made megumi an independent woman or something

bitch pls February 13, 2024 7:49 am

Now, I need to know what happened. Did Yamato really cheat on Mei? I heard he went on a date with another girl. It can’t be true right, hahaha. Mei is so perfect and precious. How can he do this to herrrr??? I need to know everything that happened right now. I’m really going mad. I thought they were the perfect couple, made for each other and all. I don’t think that it’s normal to be attracted by someone else to the point where you go on a date with them. Like wtfff.

Ling February 18, 2024 9:17 pm

No he never did.

No, the thing was that Yamato and Megumi won a contest from school and the prize was a date. Even Mei knew about it cause Megumi told her first if that was ok. Though Yamato didn't want to, Mei agreed so as to move forward and build trust in their relationship . But Yamato never stopped thinking about Mei and Megumi realized that so they ended the date earlier and he ran to see Mei right away.

God, she was such a good character! I have a soft spot fot the wholesome and supportive friend, and she fits that to a tee! But they throw her with what? Nakanishi? That's just criminal. This pig was disgusting from his first appearence until his last, and he absolutelly did NOT deserve Asami as an end game. She's a bit naive, but damn was it a terrible choice to put up with and marry this horrid bastard. Booooooy I'm mad (╯°Д °)╯╧╧

taemint January 5, 2024 11:24 pm

SO TRUE !!! i was shocked and appalled to see that he was her endgame ?!?? like huh ? the throwaway ‘comedic’ relief that’s a perpetual creep to women is her future husband ? worst decision. my final straw with him was when he ‘joked’ about dating both her and the girl that confessed to him.

In my opinion yamato started off as a good love interest but as the manga continued he became more dull and infuriating. He made me start rooting for the other love interest’s for mei. Yamato is a filthy scumbag and I hate him with all my heart. He gets so clingy and jealous when ONE guy likes mei but he gets to have a fan club of women constantly trying to get with him knowing he’s with mei and she just has to put up with it. Mei put up with all his dishonesty and hypocrisy just to have a mediocre marriage and a hideous looking baby.

Dingdring January 18, 2024 7:15 am

I feel like you're being way too harsh on him lmao. The whole story is about learning to communicate with your partner. Yamato is genuinely a kind hearted person but he has a hard time going against social pressure. Yes he can be really annoying with his whole good dude shtick but he's flawed and they address it in the manga as one of his flaws so I don't have any beef with him.

I read this from start to finish it was not perfect but I really liked it a lot the characters are not perfect but I learned a lot from them

Their character development is 100 for me. I don't care about what anybody says.

The best couple award goes to Aiko and her hubby they were unproblematic. Her husband is so loyal in contrast to Nakanishi.

The only one I didn't like is Nakanishi especially when he's thinking about choosing between Asami and the one who confessed to him. I didn't like his reasoning "now I get to choose blah blah blah" and how he's deliberately going out/flirting with girls when he has Asami. I still feel like Asami should have dated that cute classmate of her. He didn't show interest to her appearance but to her out going personality.

I see a lot of the comments hating on Yamato but I genuinely liked his character. I liked he is not perfect and also that he recognizes his mistakes and apologizes for them. I don't understand the hate tbh, I was expecting people to nag more about Nakanishi because he was really shit character from start to finish.

If you're planning to read this I suggest to not find faults in the story. Just enjoy the ride no matter where it takes you.

I want to add I really hated Megumi at first and kept thinking "No you don't need a redemption arc. You don't get to date the perfect Kai." I couldn't forgive her for what she did to Mei but then I liked where the story took her. Her determination to succeed touched my heart. Fine, I can give her Kai.

++++ people seem to forget these characters are HIGHSCHOOL KIDS! They were around 16 when they enter a relationship. As kids, they are bound to be immature, make mistakes etc. etc. Heck, I've met grown ass adults who act a lot more immature than them

Dingdring January 18, 2024 7:24 am

Agreed! I think you summed it up perfectly. I didn't like what Nakanishi said because it came off as him seriously wanting both his longterm girlfriend and this college girl he just met. I get that he's a jokester but it was clear that he was seriously weighing the pros and cons of ditching Asami. That being said, I don't think he's the worst by shoujo manga standards, but he's not good either. But even so, I find his relationship with Asami very realistic because we all know couples where one person is just the sweetest person ever and the other one is just a meh.

People who hate on Yamato probably like the toxic shoujo male leads who genuinely physically assault, gaslight, and manipulate the FL. Yamato can be fucking annoying with his wishy washy personality, but they literally address that in the manga as one of his flaws. Yamatos only red flag is that he's had about 50 different women try and date him while he's dating Mei and each and every time he puts up with their advances under the "Good guy" principle. Like he never learns from the whole megumi drama, he does the same crap again later. Other than that 10/10.

megumi suffered so much so proud of her
