not sure if it'll help, but i learned the hard way that if you try to fight off and ignore the intrusive thoughts then they'll get worse so just let the thoughts pass. It will make you suffer or even make you disgusted with yourself if it's some sort of taboo subtype OCD but it will end, at least for that specific day.   reply

I’ve had dermotophagia since I was very young (liek 4ish). Conditions like these are called BFRB’s (Body Focused Repetitive Behavior). Around age 7, I started having graphic intrusive thoughts. I would say that if your thoughts are causing you really bad stress and anxiety and if your behaviors are leading to bleeding frequently, large bald pat......   1 reply

Hi! Mental illness runs in my family, so ,when I started to show signs of OCD when I was 12, we knew what it was. It started out with counting, compulsive hand washing, and some pretty nasty intrusive thoughts. My parents are the "deal with it on your own" type, so I didn't seek help until I felt like I was putting my life in danger by not doing so......   1 reply

If it gives you any reassurance, I also pull out my hair. If this habit is destructive enough that you have bald spots, you might have trichotillomania. I can't remember the specific name for skin biting, but if you do it to the point that skin scars, you should see a specialist. In my case, I did see a psychiatrist and they helped me a lot. Honest......   1 reply

If you wanna try and tell your parents again I suggest showing them your second paragraph and second to last sentence. I think it summarises your situation pretty well. But to answer your question. Yes. Definitely see a doctor, maybe even a mental health professional. Its not gonna be easy but you can start with small steps like checking out any m......   1 reply

Hello, this kind of is a strange site to ask this but I thought maybe you guys could help me out. Warning, this may gross some users out.

I’ve had a lot of repetitive thoughts along with repetitive behavior. I’ve had extreme trichopaghia (basically, pulling hair and beyond.) in the past along with constantly peeling my lips, chewing the insides of my cheek and putting lipstick on my lips each time. Right now I have dermotophagia (biting around the skin of your nails) and it’s very bad right now too. I also have started pulling my hair out again and chewing on the insides of my cheek. I also am completely obsessed with biting my nails so my teeth look more straight at the moment, which hurts like hell for both my teeth and hands.

Repetitive behavior calms me, even though it can only make things worse too since I have to do it so I’m satisfied. It’s like a constant nagging.

I was wondering if you guys have any advice for me, I’ve tried talking to my parents but I didn’t knew how to express it.

Hello, I would like to know if anyone is coping with OCD disorder successfully?

I had this about for five years and I just discovered what it is called. Now I feel kinda peace because there are others who have thoughts like that. I think I made my conditions worse so far by trying to eliminate them.

Can you give me some advice or experience about that? It'd be great help
