Glad I'm not the only one! I'm 26, but got hooked on yaoi just a couple of years ago. I'd been into gay romance before (mainly movies), but since there's hardly any happy ending, I started looking for sth else and voila! Here I am ^^

around 16 i think? some girl at school recommended me Junjou romantica (the anime) my first ever yaoi. I was weirded out at first of course but i really enjoyed the anime. It was funny. I was about 24-25 when I started and truthfully, I didn't really like yaoi in the beginning. I read it to get exposed to lgbt issues. Not the most realistic or reliable source but when u come from a strongly anti- lgbt family you need to start slow. 1 reply

Another late boomer here. I didn't start reading yaoi manga until this year 2016 after turning 32! I'd been watching anime for just over two years and really loved the shounen ai animes I watched.
