Just communicate. If you value each other you'll work it out. If my longtime friend forgot to wish me a happy birthday I wouldn't sweat it cus they show up in so many other ways that I wouldn't be pressed over it. My friend didn't wish me happy birthday on my birthday and she talked to me later normally. Today is her birthday and I feel awkward about wishing her because she didn't do the same for me. Maybe she just forgot it was my birthday which is whatever. If I don't wish her it feels petty but if I do she'll likely then remember she didn't wish me and probably apologize and I don't really want an apology either.
