In my mid teens, that was back in the 80's before manga was as easy to find as it is today. Back then, you could find titles in the Boys Love genre, but I don't remember much, if any, explicit stuff being available where I was. My first anime was Toei's "The Little Mermaid" which came to the States on VHS in the late 1970's. My mom rented it for me at the video store and I was totally enchanted! I had never seen a cartoon like that before. I still prefer it to the Disney version. I've enjoyed anime ever since. 2 reply
