Honestly OK in my point of view i think other people are just over thinking this. You can interpret this however way you want but I think people are overly exercising their entitlement. Would you feel guilty if the characters in the story were straight? No. So why not the same with homosexual relationships? They are the same as straight, a sexual orientation.
