Hi! I´m 24 :D so... there´s a long list... but, well, I´ll give the advice that would have helped me if somebody had told me when I was maybe 18. Your parent´s reaction could be because they´re rushing you into having a partner, but that's a pretty toxic attitude. You don't have to prove anything to anyone, and with your story, I really feel that it's just a not only toxic but also homophobic attitude on their part. reply

If who you hang out with defines what you are then I'm a military veteran, a metal head, a computer programer, and a cat with a Ph.D. in psychology. If this comes up again and her only reason remains who your friends are, maybe you should ask her why she thinks your a lesbian rather than transgendered. 1 reply

Hey! Maybe it’s her way of being supportive and creating a safe heaven or something. Have you asked her why she thinks you are a lesbian, and if it would be so bad if you were (I know you aren’t though)? My mom told me that both her and my dad think that I’m a lesbian because all of my friends are in the LGBT+ community somehow or another. I’m straight and I feel like I’ve told her so many times. She says I’m obsessed with gay people and it’s like no... I just like RuPaul’s Drag Race sometimes!

Also, not sure if this is relevant but I live in a conservative household and I thought my mom was pretty accepting but the more I listen maybe not.

Am I wrong to feel a little insulted that she doesn’t believe me?

Like why does she want me to be a lesbian so bad?

try your best but don't take your self too seriously. be responsible and reflect on your actions but don't let it stop you from doing what you want to do (within lawful and financial reason). also, save your money. 2 reply
