I rather buy hard copies than digital, its something I can collect and hold, and it wont hurt my eyes for staring too long. I have a semi large collection over the years and mostly got them from thrift stores, library sales, and/or on sale. reading online is nice but nothing will beat having something you can hold in your hand(at least for me). I love to read online but I am a serious collector of hard copies. I have a small collection in English and a huge collection in Japanese. It does cost money but I work hard, pay my bills and buy doujinshi and manga. It makes me happy. I really love flipping through physical pages. Maybe I am a dying breed. I never bought manga because I can't afford it, I'm grateful sites like this exist bc I wouldn't be able to enjoy these stories otherwise. A local comicsbook store was selling manga at cheap price last week, but I needed the money to take the bus, so I didn't buy any, but I think the real copy are very pretty! I mean, of course, I'm all for buying paper copies of manga. It supports the creators who spend days and nights trying to make it the best they can. But like you said, buying manga is money consuming.
