Personally I like both an equal amount. Bara is a bit more comparable to my real life sex experiences, since it's actually written by gay men unlike yaoi. Yaoi has more story, but is often very much a straight woman's ideal vision of what gay sex is, and is often unrealistic.

I'm gay and I want to know what other gay men/mlm think about bara and bl. I haven't read a ton of bara so I might be wrong in what I say about it, idk.
Personally, I'm not really that into bara and I read bl instead. Like, I don't care for really beefy and muscular guys and in bara. I prefer twinks/average build men which seems to be more common in bl. But I feel like I should like bara more since it's by gay men for gay men? Maybe I'm confused. I just wanna hear other's opinions on this.

I feel bad for them. It is a kind of mental illness. People become pedos is they go thorough very traumatic experiences. But It is not okay to be attracted to kids. Honestly you could say the same about straight relationships. If you read about straight couples I could say you're sexualizing straight relationships, but that wouldn't make sense. If your uncomfortable just stop reading it but as far as I'm concerned it's basically the same as any other romance manga. reply
If you read Yaoi just because you think gays are sexy and man on man stuff is hot then it's definitely sexualisation.

I think some yaoi fetishizes gay relationships the ones without any plots just smut all the time and where the characters are very stereotypically feminine or musculine. I don't like those ones. Do you think yaoi (NOT bl/shounen ai) sexualizes and glamorizes gay relationships? I’m genuinely curious because some story’s are so so unrealistic. And some are just straight sex the entire manga. With no plot. (I understand it is strictly fiction.) I would like to hear opinions because, to be honest, I’ve gotten to a point where I’m just confused about what im reading. And I’m feeling mixed feelings about reading those story’s anymore. (Maybe the word I’m looking for is uncomfortable??) but anyways your opinion is very appreciated on this taboo subject.
