I agree with almost everything, but I have to say that I somehow find graphic depictions of sex in drawing format way less jarring than real porn. Growing up I ended up on porn sites pretty early and I was fascinated, curious, but it also felt wrong because I was looking at these human beings only as sex objects. Yes!! Also, people need to recognise that a majority of these stories are coming from places which are still extremely homophobic, so any and all stereotypes that they perpetuate to a largely straight audience is even more harmful!!

What you have said is valid and I agree with a lot of the clear-headed points made. I do think the BL genre as a whole is moving forward, even if only slightly, as there is a fair amount of non-toxic and healthy relationships being portrayed recently (although of course the problematic portrayals still do exist).
