Using the "it's just fiction" excuse to justify toxic tropes in manga is not just lazy, it's plain dumb. I agree with your first two statements but the last one idk about. That gives leeway for people to believe their racist, homophobic, sexist, etc. ideas are ok. In my personal experience it is not the fact that people talk about the toxic situations, what they like or what didn't like. What annoys me is the fact people don't read the tags, don't read the warnings, don't read the age disclaimers. If you are reading a drama

I don’t know about the ‘all opinions are valid’ one, fam, cause I’ve literally had an mf tell me that “not all rape is bad” in the context of sexual coercion.
