Do you guys realize how harmful yaoi/bl can be?
To start off, there is no problem with anyone reading these things. Yaoi and BL mangas and manhwas can tell great stories while showing representation of a historically marginalized group. However, I do have a problem with the fetishization and normalization of certain stereotypes of gay people. Along with the normalization of minors being exposed to graphic/inappropriate content. Both of these issues are very much present on this website and I want to know if people know and understand this. Seme/uke and top/bottom are regularly used in lists, thus simplifying characters to sex objects, along with some harmful gender stereotypes. The ukes and bottoms in these stories act in, what is consider traditionally, feminine ways. Mainly by being submissive, nice, quiet, etc. Semes and tops are view in more traditional masculine roles. Additionally, some of you guys are too young to be reading certain mangas and manhwas. It is not normal for a 13 year old to have a kink or a fetish already and to have read and seen stories with intense sexual content. For instance, Killing Stalking is not something that you should have read at 12 years old. This also goes to anime watchers too, Junjou Romantica and Love Stage are problematic but made for mature viewers not 11 year olds. Overall, do people know how bad sexualizing gay people and being exposed to graphic and inappropriate content can be? Are a majority of people here normal and understand how problematic some users questions, answers, and list can be? Stereotypes exist in every single community without exceptions. People are also allowed to have their "preferences" or as some say "fetishes". -Seme/Uke dynamics: I mostly agree with you on this one since these archetypes are extremely heteronormative, but, i don't really see the problem on using those terms as long as people know how to focus and appreciate the plot.

I agree to this. Yes, minors should know about sex ed. But some mangas in this site are not appropriate for them. Well, it's an unavoidable thing considering we all have are own privacies and secrets that we keep. So please, to all the minors out there, learn to control yourself, learn what you can read/watch and can't. Also don't influence others ...... reply
I definitely do agree with you about how harmful most of the content on here is, especially when it’s rare to see disclaimers and such. I do think that 12 year olds and younger kids shouldn’t be on here, but I don’t think it’s something that’s preventable. I agree with the depictions of gay couplings. Sometimes I do get annoyed at the way ukes are way too feminine, almost depicting that bottoms are only reserved for people that are female-like and semes are for masculine people. Yes!! Also, people need to recognise that a majority of these stories are coming from places which are still extremely homophobic, so any and all stereotypes that they perpetuate to a largely straight audience is even more harmful!!

Agree, in the wrong hands, yaoi can cause harm. But, young people are going to find it no matter what we do. And, of course, some kids are going to take what they see too the extreme.
