Is experience important?

Hi so a little about me is that I had a boyfriend for 2 years but we never kissed or anything beyond that because we were both too shy and awkward. I saw that most people don't really like their first kiss because it was weird and they didn't know what to do.
So I was thinking I don't want a kiss with my (future) boyfriend (if I ever gonna have one) to be super awkward and weird and doesn't feel good due to lack of experience. Is it better to have some experience beforehand by kissing (nice) friend/stranger who is willing? How do people normally do this? How did you guys handle it? Σ(っ°Д °;)っ
