Hey asexual people, why do you like yaoi?
I'm actually asexual myself and I was quite surprised to see so many people who are also ace on this site! This is a question I've been asked before and I'm curious as to how others might answer as well.
Personally, I really enjoy reading about relationships between other people. I think that there's a part of me who really likes that fact that BL is between two boys, and that I (as a girl) could never put myself in either character's place.
I identify as Demisexual usually because I'm open to the possibility of being intimate with someone if we had a strong enough bond even though at present I've never felt any desire to do so. Asexuality doesnt equal impotence. Aces do get aroused. Everything in our body still works, we just don't want others to get involved. In simpler terms, we just dont want intimacy with another person. 2 reply
The reason I read it... I find it weird that bodies are things to be desired so I want to pick apart the reason and try to understand it, because it's such a foreign concept it's rather fun to witness.
Aesthetics are a pretty big reason behind reading manga in general too.

I like yaoi cause it's yaoi. Shoujo, hentai and all that hetero romance has become too overdone and too ordinary. But yaoi, even if the stories are really cliche and ridiculous, I still won't get bored of them cause with yaoi I can never have that deja-vu feeling like I have with hetero romance stories ╮(￣▽￣)╭

While I'm ace, I'm completely not aro, and I just absolutely get thrilled whenever I watch/read about two people that love each other and stuff.
Now, I'll read pretty much any pairing: boys' love, girls' love, straight relationships, anything really.

I like reading about relationship dynamics and seeing how the characters develop. I read other genres too, but I find that the dynamics that I like tend to only happen in yaoi.
There also seem to be better characters.

Demipansexual here, and I like yaoi for the emotions (And on top of that if it's a great manga with a great plot, that's just the best), but not just love, ok? I love to see the desire in characters, they reactions and likes/dislikes, just like in shojo/josei, but I think the stories and emotions in yaoi are much more genuine, original and develope...... reply
