Does anybody else who reads shounen ai and yaoi have a problem with reading girlxboy relationship mangas, i have a weird problem where it kinda disgusts me, im not against it or anything but like i cant stand to read it for some reason ┑(￣Д ￣)┍
i thought i was the only one with this problem. but i can explain this for myself. the reason for me is that i find hetero relationships boring and so stereotypical and i see it everyday while same-sex relationships are something that are for me way more interesting (i have a weird obsession with things that are not the everyday stereotypical, thos...... reply
I'm pretty most of us can agree with your opinion. It seems the only times I, and many others, like a hetero pairing is in which the female lead is a strong independent woman who has a backbone and doesn't act like the typical heroine we know. They stray from the "formula" or script so it's definitely refreshing. I also remember someone else's ques...... reply

The one thing that disgusts me, when it comes to manga, is when the uke is REALLY slutty (some cases, it's fine), or just looks like a chick with a dick. Cause really... Yeah, I can relate to that. I don't really like the girl in romance shoujo mangas. More like, before I found Yaoi and sho-ai, I never like romance stories. I always read something that has little to non-existent romance books. Even if there is a romance, I have to like the story enough so that I can just let it slide. Oh my god I feel the same. It's not really disgusting but it's just cringey in a way? Idk, I do cringe in a lot of yaoi and shounen ai mangas but not as much as shoujo. I can probably handle josei if I tried, but most shoujos are just too much for me. reply
yeah and its weird. im gay and tbh straight couples make me uncomfortable and i dont like seeing it in person and i absolutely cant stand reading shoujo even if the plot seems really interesting... but im perfectly fine when it comes to watching dramas and movies which is odd. i guess its just not in my comfort zone... shoujo mangas honestly arent ...... 1 reply
Yep, but probably for a different reason. I actually came across a shoujo/smut manga at
the local library (surprise! I bet they didn't know it had sex in it). Curiosity led me to online
scanlations and then to yaoi. In shoujo, the female mc's for the most part are weak, shy, crying, virgin babies who fall for super good looking guys who are any...... reply
"Het is eww." I'm like that. I got into BL when I was 15. I was very asexual & didn't like the idea of women & men touching eachother. Actually, I wasn't okay with the idea of women being sexual at all.
