i'm wondering, am i the only one who cares about the sex of authors? this sounds sexist af, but i usually only like to read things by men. if i see it's by a woman, i don't wanna read it anymore. it has nothing to do with the quality of their writing - i've seen many things written by women that are way better than things written by men. but i still have this hangup, and i've had it for years. it's literally the only reason i don't read yaoi (other than the romanticized rape and heteronormalization and stuff). and the weird thing is that in any other field - politics, medicine, etc - i think women can be just as capable as men. but when it comes to manga and books in general, i gotta avoid them
I think you worded this kind of weird, but I understand where you're coming from. The gay community regularly condemns the yaoi community because it's full of cis women getting off to other cis women writing heteronormative gay couples.
