I mean... I could spar this with sentences like:
"People who enjoy mature, sexy comics objectify and fetishize straight men and women"
or
"People who enjoy yuri objectify and fetishize gay women"
Get it?
I personally don't see anything wrong with fetishizing something. People are attracted to what they are attracted to, are sucked into whateve...... 3 reply
This is bs. yaoi isn't really for or about gay men. It's egotistical to consider ourselves "fetishized." Come on. We're guests among these fujoshi, and we ought to remember that it's not our world, and not our tribe, it's theirs. It's about the characters they create, not gay men, and they have every right to create their own unique characters....... 1 reply
Yaoi is definitely a sensitive topic, but in reality, there’s nothing wrong with it. As long as you are respectful of other people and don’t fixate on yaoi constantly to the point where it becomes an obsession, it should be fine. There are always bad apples in the bunch but there’s nothing we can do about that. The fact that you’re worried ...... reply
Honestly, people need to realize that yaoi is very much like the romance genre, i.e. it's a fantasy. It's meant to provide enjoyment and escapism. As long as people separate fiction from real life and respect other people/realize what's depicted in fiction shouldn't be generalized to people, then women shouldn't be judged for liking what they like ...... reply
Ah, I've seen some people like that. I joined a yaoi group recently and noticed that some members like to post pictures of hot guys/gay couples being all "omg what uke material" "who do u think is the uke/seme" and I just wonder what does that have to do with yaoi??? I came here to talk about manga lol wtf
I dont think reading yaoi fetishizes gay ...... reply
It basically means gross woman. We're called that because we read gay porn, and romanticize gay relationships , also why didn't you search Google for what it means? reply
Honestly I just read yaoi because I don’t see myself in the characters, as to compares to a shoujo where I see the girl and I subconsciously relate to her, so reading yaoi/shounen ai, I get to romance from a different perspective, of course I’m able to know what’s right and wrong like, I know nooooo shlong is gonna go in a booty hole the easi...... 2 reply
I'd agree with the statement tbh. While not all, a lot of BL tends to deal with stories that have repeating themes of dubcon and power imbalance ;; And I've read before that women are more keen to enjoy these themes in BL since there's no female character being helpless so a female reader can immerse themselves fully into the kink of these themes w...... 1 reply
*sorry this is going to be looooong*
"Yaoi" itself implies a certain sexual content.
Some yaoi do have plot development - in this case, i see them as your average romance manga (with explicit scenes), but m/m.
However, if we're talking abt a pwp yaoi (meaning they have no plot at all) then i must say it's pretty obvious why ppl would find it hardc...... 1 reply
Fuck that. Even if it is true, are people not allowed to enjoy and fetishize whatever they want? As long as you use discretion and respect appropriately. Do not be ashamed about what you like or what you find sexy and attractive. On the opposite side of the spectrum, all women who read yaoi and BL stories do not share the same thoughts and opinions...... 1 reply
