I personally hate the word fujoshi because it really isn't supposed to be proud of. It means rotten girl, so yes I do think that is a person would call themselves as a fujoshi that is what they categorizing themselves; someone who objectify and fetishize the lgbtq+ community, especially gay men. Of course not all people who enjoys yaoi is one. I am...... reply
I totally can't agree with your friend. I love yaoi because they can have really good stories. I read a lot of manga, mostly yaoi but shoujo too, and yaoi has way more interesting storylines. Yaoi shows the insecurities of having to come out which straight couples don't have to deal with. As a lesbian I love seeing that in yaoi, the fight against b...... 1 reply
No, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
I'd say just ignore them and go read your manga, it's obviously not their business if your not bothering anyone.
What I've figured out is that everyone's wrong:
One group is over generalizing vs the other group becoming too defensive.
Anyways let's not talk about the bad, let's be wholesome.

I mean... I could spar this with sentences like:
"People who enjoy mature, sexy comics objectify and fetishize straight men and women"
or
"People who enjoy yuri objectify and fetishize gay women"
Get it?
I personally don't see anything wrong with fetishizing something. People are attracted to what they are attracted to, are sucked into whateve...... 3 reply
This is bs. yaoi isn't really for or about gay men. It's egotistical to consider ourselves "fetishized." Come on. We're guests among these fujoshi, and we ought to remember that it's not our world, and not our tribe, it's theirs. It's about the characters they create, not gay men, and they have every right to create their own unique characters....... 1 reply
Yaoi is definitely a sensitive topic, but in reality, there’s nothing wrong with it. As long as you are respectful of other people and don’t fixate on yaoi constantly to the point where it becomes an obsession, it should be fine. There are always bad apples in the bunch but there’s nothing we can do about that. The fact that you’re worried ...... reply
The thing is with your question, it generalizes every person that reads yaoi and that is not correct. While I agree that there are fujoshi/fudanshi who read yaoi objectify gay men, there are also people who read yaoi for the enjoyment of the genre and stick to just fangiringl/boying the manga itself. Being of the latter myself, my feelings when I r...... reply

Honestly, people need to realize that yaoi is very much like the romance genre, i.e. it's a fantasy. It's meant to provide enjoyment and escapism. As long as people separate fiction from real life and respect other people/realize what's depicted in fiction shouldn't be generalized to people, then women shouldn't be judged for liking what they like ...... reply
Ah, I've seen some people like that. I joined a yaoi group recently and noticed that some members like to post pictures of hot guys/gay couples being all "omg what uke material" "who do u think is the uke/seme" and I just wonder what does that have to do with yaoi??? I came here to talk about manga lol wtf
I dont think reading yaoi fetishizes gay ...... reply
