you can't claim "representation matters" and "fiction doesn't effect reality".
if you agree that good rep of marginalized groups can help marginalised groups then you inherently have to accept that fiction does effect reality. and conversely how bad rep can effect marginalised groups.
I want to believe that as humans we can distinguish and separate fiction from reality. And this is just my personal POV but i have never understand why people take so seriously any kind of fictional work. It's not real.
