got told not to read bl if its got sex
so i was talking to a bi person about bl and she was like as long as it doesnt have sex in it and youre not fetishizing gay men and i was obviously like no i dont read ones w sex which is a lie because i read yaoi lol its not my fault if a good bl happens to be yaoi but anyways besides the point lol um so i said that cos i dindt wanna piss her off but like ... im not fetishizing gay men when i read yaoi like, its not supposed to be realistic ygm ?? like some is realistic with the things gay men go through with oppression and homophobia but more times than not its not realistic. if we know its not realistic why is it a problem that we enjoy yaoi?? its not like we've now gone out and are like aww i want a gay bsf or like stereotypical stuff like that. however it has led to a shipping problem and now i ship every boy i see w someone LOL anyways if u read all this ur a real one <333
Fr I've been seeing that often, cause if we are going by that logic then straight porn wouldn't be a thing cause it fetishizing straights, which is dumb logic. It's like saying you shouldn't read yuri if you're a guy. But I like reading yaoi but I wouldn't call myself a fujoshi because I don't ship guys in irl and I'm not infatuated with It. I ship...... 1 reply
I get why bi and homosexual individuals hate how popular media portrays them. I have issues with it myself. However, that doesn’t mean you can demean yaoi or yuri or the people who read it. Most people just use it as an escape and to read something different. That’s it. It’s harmless drawings and dialogue on paper. The problem is when an indi...... 3 reply
Pretty sure you can read bl with sex and still not fetishize mlm. You can also read bl without sex and end up fetishizing mlm. It actually depends on the reader.
Also yaoi is not realistic in any way.(just because the author added some struggle against homophobia as a plot device doesn’t make it realistic). If you are shipping real life people t...... 3 reply
You: "I'm not fetishizing gay men when i read yaoi"
Also you: "however it has led to a shipping problem and now i ship every boy i see w someone" reply
Fetishization does not establish residency within the R-rated scene only love. It makes no difference. A BL reader, be they reading R-rated content or not, will be fetishizing from the moment that they are reading BL for the sole *thrill* of it. What I mean by that is how many BL readers read it because it's a guy. With another guy. A taboo in a wa...... 1 reply
bro even a google search will tell you that 'fetish' means 'a form of sexual desire in which gratification is linked to an ***abnormal degree*** to a particular object, item of clothing, part of the body, etc.'
feeling arousal for something ISN'T inherently fetishizing. you can be aroused/interested but not have a fetish for something. don't confl...... reply
"And I was obviously like no I don't read ones with sex which is a lie because I read yaoi lol"
And y'all wonder why no one buys the "#notallfujos" bullshit when y'all just lie about shit to save your own ass. Don't wanna hear shit about any of y'all being "one of the good ones", smh, the only kind of fujo is the problematic kind. reply
Personally I don’t think you should apologise or justify your preferences for BL or if so, a fetish. It’s fiction and should be treated as such. As long as you can separate that from reality I see no harm. Just have respect for people/individuals in real life then maybe this wouldn’t even be a topic. IRL I ship who I wanna ship (friends, stra...... reply
