Just me? I am so used to reading manga in English that when I find them translated into my own language ... I feel that it is not the same hahaha (my native language is Spanish)
I think that people who translate manga into my language (brazilian portuguese) tend to be very literal with their translations, since they do english to portuguese translation, so I think "if I'm reading a half assed translated manga, I'd rather read it in English". But the ones who are translated from japanese to portuguese are acceptable. 2 reply
It's the same for me. My native language is Spanish (Argentina). My brother has a Naruto manga translated in my country and I find it really fun because they use slang from here. Example: "Noo Naruto hiciste tremendo kilombo" (Kilombo: it's slang for mess) reply
I feel like it'd have more feeling to it if we can actually read the manga/manhwa in the orig language they were published in.
I also feel tht way tho...my friend wnted me to read some story tht was in tagalog (I'm Filipino) and i just laughed and cringed at most of the scenes reply
I only speak English and Creole.
I read manga in English, but if I'm gonna read it in Japanese, English subtitles gotta be at the bottom, so I can understand what they are saying reply
Sometimes there's specific words or phrases in a language that can't quite be translated properly in English, such as "苦瓜脸" in Chinese, which translates literally to "bitter melon face" in English. My non-Chinese friends find this expression kind of strange, but it makes perfect sense in Chinese and is used regularly to describe someone who's...... reply

names of things, food and the like also translate into Polish
