Anti-fujos: what fujoshi actually means+ more
so there are so many antifujos and uneducated people on this site so I am going to try and educate you all in a respectful manner. People think fujoshi means "a straight girl who fetishizes mlm" but that is VERY incorrect. There are people who do objectify and fetishize mlm but those people would just be called objectifiyers or fetishizers NOT fujoshi. Since fujoshi just means someone liking BL the people who fetishize mlm wouldn't be fujoshi anymore because they don't just like BL at that point they fetishize mlm. origin of fujoshi: "fujoshi" was created by homophobic men in japan to shame women for reading BL content. Fujoshi can be lesbian, trans women, or just a girl because fujoshi just means "A girl who likes BL". In japan since BL did originate and get popular there fujoshis have helped a lot to take down homophobia in Japan. I personally think only Japanese people should use the term fujoshi, fudanshi, and fujin but you can still use these terms if you want to even if you aren't Japanese. Another problem I feel like is non japanese mlm and people always thinking they automatically have a say about what all these terms mean because they are LGBT. Yes it mainly is but this is not always the case. According to research 50% of time BL is created by lgbt+ it could be lesbians or closeted people or gay people but ofc most of you wouldn't know that there is a lot of misinformation spread on this site and and other platforms. the other 50% is just straight or people not aware of their sexuality. A lot of authors also don't disclose personal information about themselves because they don't want to get harassed for it and use pen names so you would just be assuming they are women when they may or may not be. Here is a tweet: https://twitter.com/ahabthepredator/status/1300517120720154625 To add on what the terms actually mean, shounen ai and yaoi: shounen ai is usually known to be as non explicit, soft and fluffy BL but it actually has a pedophilic nature and would show young boys usually in highschool going through a lot of abuse, pain, and rape so using the term "shounen ai" might actually make you seem like a pedo in Japan. Yaoi is known as explicit, hardcore, and NSFW but it was actually more of a funny comedic and/or doujinshi type stories and in Japan the term is not used anymore and no one creates "yaoi" anymore so using yaoi is incorrect. BL can be either non explicit or explicit. I am sorry for any grammar mistakes and I didn't explain everything perfectly because I got tired so PLEASEEE read all the sources listed.
