Can we talk about the morality of Omegaverse
Tbh I always avoid omegaverse stories- To be clear I do not avoid reading all BL for the most part I avoid stories that have r*pe and other such non-con stories (not to say every omegaverse has rape in it) but since a large majority of people read and enjoy omegaverse I was kind of interested in hearing the general consensus and morality around it. Do you read omegaverse, and if you do why?
yes but no. if I was to ever read omegaverse it'd have to be the fluffy ones with ACTUAL plot, no rape and a healthy relationship where both partners trust eachother. 1 reply
For a long time I was hella uncomfortable with omegaverse because they are heteronormative to a whole new, and almost horrifying, level. And of course, because most are rapey. This whole universe was in part created to justify it or at least to push the sex scenes into the story (the pheromones are an efficient alibi to make the characters go crazy...... 3 reply

As a whole, the genre is terrible. For this reason I avoid it so much. The authors use heats, pheromones and positions in that world's society to justify r*pe and sexual harassments. And as you may know, this doesn't change any damn thing. It's still wrong and disgusting however you put it.

I read whatever bl catches my eye. If it's omegaverse, it's omegaverse. I don't specifically request for omegaverse anymore for no particular reason, but if it sounds like a captivating story then I will read it, omegaverse or not. I don't really care. I read whatever I feel like reading. reply
ive only read like 2 omegaverse stories but honestly its pretty fucking stupid- like the pheromones and stuff its just cringe and confusing. And when they have stories where the i think the omega? goes out and just fucks anybody to satisfy them during their high is just man i dont even know its not cute-

The issue with "morality" isn't about omegaverse in general but rather events that happen in the stories such as rape. Considering how much rape I've seen in regular non-omegaverse BL I would guess the "morality" in both are about the same.
As for why I like omegaverse, it's because I like BL regardless of whether it's about wizards, demihumans, o...... reply
