I don't think it's an age matter, it's more like a maturity matter.
It shouldn't be a problem as long as you are aware of the effects and consequences ( talking about mental/emotional states and or physical states and also things regarding your sexual health and well-being)

I would say it all depends on when you feel really and truly ready, that means without any peer pressure from friends, boy/girlfriend. When you're mentally ready to handle whatever may come your way and also the fact that the first person you lost your virginity to you may regret it/them. Do it if you really like the other person, don't do it because you feel pressured to just do it.
