Highschool advice?
I know I sound fucking stupid and there are millions of websites on which I can look up advice, but I feel super comfortable in this community. I recently started high school and Im worried and uncertain about a lot of things. I want to know if high school is as horrible as people say it is. I'm just finding myself obsessing over everything, how I look, how my grades are, how people see me. I feel like it's not very healthy and all. I am genuinely curious about how much my grades really matter and how important is my image. I also want to know about everyone's experience.
Firstly, your grades are important indeed. You're going to school to study after all, and to prepare yourself for the future, it's an opportunity that your parents and society is giving to you and it shouldn't be wasted.

I had a good experience in high school.
People usually don't care about what you look like as long as you look decent (not dirty and take minimum care of your appearance. No need to dress up or wear makeup).

Everyone has a different experience. I hated high school but that was mostly because I went to a terrible school. Fights broke out everyday. A student even attacked a teacher. The school was rampant with gang activity and loud, boisterous assholes that I couldn't relate to. Girls wanted to fight me because I dyed my hair red....It was fucking insan...... reply
As someone who did highschool longer than most because I kept moving countries and missed large chunks of a school year, I ended up repeating grade 9 twice. So here is the thing. Speaking as someone who went finished high school a number of years ago now: when I was in high school, people older than me told me it was probably the most fun and carefree experience of their lives. I'm beginning to see what they mean.

Honestly, everyone else your age is also obsessing over everything, and are therefore all way too busy to judge you for YOUR image. I wouldn't say it's unhealthy - it's just a fact of being the high school age.

Accept who you are, both your strengths and more importantly your weaknesses. If you are confident in who you are then you simply can't be bullied. You own yourself, and nothing others say can shake your belief in yourself. Eg. some calls you a spider. high school is honestly how you make it to be. back when i was a year 9 (first year of highschool) i had pretty severe depression which caused me to almost never attend school and think that it was the worst thing a person could ever endure. i didnt care at all what i looked like or my grades, frankly i didnt care about anything. going into year 10...... reply
