so i saw the "silence the white voices" tingy and understood that it was just half joking like not so serious and then i saw another qn where the op said that a non-black person wearing box braids is racist,im indian so never properly understood why a hairstyle had so much controversy behind it? can someone explain cause i didnt see any exploitation of cultural from my point of view,help!
hey I’m black and for the longest time box braids and other typical African American hairstyles have been seen as ghetto and dirty. like my sister has been rejected multiple times in jobs interviews cause was wearing braids or told to start straightening her hair. so it’s a bit disheartening to see white people or non black people take somethin...... 1 reply
