If you were reincarnated into a cliche fantasy novel, how would you treat the characters?

Im asking because the mcs of these stories seem to have a conflict on wether they treat the people from these novels like characters or actual humans(not all are like this, i’ve only seen a few). Anyways, I was thinking that I would personally treat them like characters, only in the beginning out of confusion, but if I truly have to live my life there then adapting is only natural and bonds can be formed, so it would be hard not to see them as actual humans.
(I hope my question makes sense and I don’t sound dumb)
