How do you feel about Yaoi & the misrepresentation of LGBT community in media?
Hi, I'd love to hear thoughts on this statement: "Hey fun fact! Fetishizing gay men is disgusting and if you’re a fujoshi/ yaoi fan you should stop and realize you’re not representing or helping mlm correctly by posting your “uwu trash sinful gaybies otp” and only harms the community". I know this kind of topic has already been asked again, & again. I don't mean to start a shit storm cuz I know that can get ugly quick but, Im often really unsure where I stand on this. I'd really appreciate hearing other viewpoints.
I'm gay and I enjoy yaoi. I don't take it very seriously, it's light-heated or angsty romance with the occasional smut. It's rare for a yaoi manga to seriously tackle LGBT issue and I don't really expect it anyway. It's fantasy.
As for fetishizing, I honestly don't care. The flaws and tropes I see in yaoi are prevalent in a lot manga. Just look at...... 2 reply
