Why do you read yaoi?
Based off another question on here, but I just realized that I read a lot of yaoi stories (I read other things too, its not just exclusively yaoi content) but I don't really have any reason why I like it other than it's entertaining? Like I have no super deep or emotional reason to read so much of it, but I do anyway? Does that even make sense? So I'm just curious as to why other people read it and like it so much, because maybe then I can relate and understand myself more?
Back then, I only read romance bw straights, bc i am a heterosexual female myself. But when I became intrigued about homosexual relationships, I started reading one as well. I found myself reading hundreds of yaoi bc of the visuals.
My point is, two hot guys are better than just one right? 1 reply
At first, I red because i got curious and like who wouldn't dig to two hot guys making out right? (or is it just me lol) anyways, as I continue to read I feel bliss and happy when my ships turn out great. Idk it somewhat turned into my stress reliever?? ٩(๑❛ᴗ❛๑)۶ reply
It turns me on and lights me up and I feel happier and more alive. I LOVE yaoi! Catherine loves Heathcliff, and I've been in love, but for now and for all my life there is at least this. 2 reply
Idk, i just like it. i like Shoujo but if I'm honest I get bored by a lot of them and drop them, Yaoi for some reason, no. It's not just the fact it's guy on guy, it's something about the genre itself, like it's just got a different feel to Shoujo or Yuri or any other type of romance, it's just something about it hahaha, idk how to describe it. reply
I accidentaly discovered shounen ai while watching an anime. At first I didn't undersrand why people hated it so much just because there was one kiss scene. I wanted to know more about the genre and started reading yaoi.(⌒▽⌒) reply
I just do. I think some boys look good together.
I find my yaoi by looking at the picture then reading the summary, then i read it and think about what I should do with it next. 3 reply
A question I occasionally ask myself. All I know for sure is:
1. Despite being straight I am not interested in straight romance
2. This might sound ridiculous but in both fiction and irl I'm easily jealous of the girl who receives the attention and affection of the guy I like, with yaoi those feelings aren’t there because there isn’t a female t...... reply
Sometimes their stories are more realistic than shoujo or the typical romance stories. Romance in real life has a mixture of drama, work, family, intercourse, and etc. In which most yaoi stories do have. This is what makes it realistic and relatable. Yaoi has A LOT of heartache story plots that I love. A story that can make you cry as if you feel w...... reply
