Weeb was never a term for liking anime. It was a term (primarily asian) people used for people with unhealthy obsession with Japan and who fetishized Japanese culture. But somehow people ‘reclaimed’ it even though it wasn’t something for them to reclaim. When adopting anime in the west, we used the Japanese word “otaku” to describe anime ...... 1 reply
I think weeb has always been a term for someone who were obsessed with Japanese culture and ppl changed it to liking anime. Idk about the yaoi and yuri one tho I always refer to it as BL and GL reply
