what are y'alls thoughts on ppl who use google translate and produce shit translations?
I've noticed something annoying. Uploaders with zero knowledge on the language from which they are translating, using literal google translate, making bad and/or completely inaccurate translations and bad edits.
And then they'll go
"Uwu I'm so sorry I actually dont understand said language but I wanted to - " stfu. You were irrelevant the moment you admitted you don't know the language.
For what purpose does someone who doesn't even understand the language to want to do translations? Why? Are you seeking approval? Attention? People's admiration? Are you just delusional?
Majority of people who end up reading these shit translations will show how "thankful" they are for the effort. Well, unpopular opinion here, but maybe dont enable people to keep doing this. Dont enable people incapable of knowing the language to delude themselves into thinking they're doing anything useful. Because point blank nothing ruins a potentially good story more than the shit translations.
Please just leave it for people who actually know what they're doing.

i obviously prefer good translations but i’d rather there be chapters to look at the pretty art than no chapters at all if a good scanlations team isn’t picking it up reply
I usually get on Mangago to browse manga/manhwa/manhua and end up buying a few official copies if there's an official translation.
BUT
When it comes to those super unpopular comics which don't even have an English translation, this sucks! I love scanlation teams or individual translators who actually know the language cause they usually deliver to...... reply
I get that. There are some people on here that actually put effort in despite not knowing a language because they want to provide a nice and comprehensible story for others/themselves. I have no problem with that, they're trying their best at least, and usually they do end up being pretty good.
But those that just paste words into google translate...... reply
I did scanlation once and admittedly the panels quality was low. But the readers didn't hate it since I actually had good grammar and understandable translations lol. It's not that hard to put effort in translating, you're just ruining someone's day by experimenting your intrusive thoughts. Personally I dont care low quality panels bc Ik the strugg...... 2 reply
ive translated a few chs of There's a Ghost Behind the Gyaru without being able to speak Japanese but I put in effort by learning hiragana and katakana and using multiple translators + jp dictionary and honestly if i can give myself some props it came out pretty decent

I will agree with your unpopular opinion. They are so annoying and I reserve my thanks and praise for the scanlation teams who put in effort to do the story justice by actually working on as good a translation as possible. Those guys are awesome.
But the google translations are awful. Especially if they are translating Chinese manhua it becomes a n...... reply
