idk if it's just me but..
Have you guys noticed how you can find melanated men as the main character or lead, but it's rare to find a melanated woman as the main character or lead? I need to see more sistas in webtoons!!. One other thing that lowkey annoys me is how a webtoon story will be based in a world where it's impossible to be white as snow but the female lead will always end up being white as snow to symbolize "purity" or "innocence" or they'll come up with some bs excuse for her to be white
LITERALLY, thats why when i read "when jasy whistles" i was so happy we finally have a tan mc thats a FEMALE LEAD. if yall have anything with a tan mc thats a girl pls reccommend 4 reply
Cuz most webtoons are Koreans and korean women are OBSESSED with having white skin babes it’s just their culture plus most of their stories are catered to korean audiences not the western audience so while I know it’s frustrating there’s nothing much to be done, unless there are more western artists creating webtoons 1 reply

I have been building this list for a while, and it has been suchhh slow going! It’s even harder to find melanated female characters that aren’t just coomer bait.

Honestly I notice this a lot. Even in anime like Michiko and Hatchin, and Carol and Tuesday that have a woman leads with darker skin both shows also have a white co-lead character like it’s a checklist to have a least one white leading character. I love both of these shows, it’s just something I notice.
