Whats a deep fried dough from your country!?
Mine is "puff puff" bc my family is from Nigeria. theyre like doughnut holes but bigger and kinda chewy. 98% of the time, they are sweet but you can make them like onion flavour lol.
There are two types of fried dough in my country. One is sweet (like reeeeeaaalllyyy sweet) and the other one is salty.
Sweet one is “lokma”
Salty one is “pişi” also called as salty lokma lol 2 reply
Fried dumplings or fritters (fritters are typically flat, while dumplings are round fried dough made with a rising agent) - Jamaica.
Fritters are usually Saltfish Fritters. Another name for saltfish is codfish.
They go with savory dishes like ackee fruit and saltfish or even curried chicken/ mutton. 2 reply

More "pan-fried" than "deep-fried" here, but bannock comes to mind! It may have European routes, idk, but in Canada it's an indigenous flatbread/quick bread and it's sooooooo good! You can top it with whatever you want, but my favorite is butter, cinnamon, and sugar~ 1 reply
