As someone who is pan and doesn't particularly identify with any one gender, I enjoy most soft BL stories. I think they're fun to read, but I also read GL and straight couple stories. To me it's just another cheesy love story. On the other hand I don't appreciate it when people use it for fetish purposes, and hope that society will evolve enough so......   5 reply

yaoi specifically relies on heteronormative ideals, assigning uke and seme roles that go beyond sexual positioning but also the entire character’s identity, personality, and motivations. it’s one of the unfortunate realities of a genre written by women (who can be straight or lgbt) who have only their own experience to write from about male cen......   3 reply

If it disgusts you so much, then what are you doing on this site, anyway? If it doesn't appeal to you, then it doesn't appeal to you, but I'd encourage you to read more BL to get a better picture and broader scope of the many different types of stories in the genre. There are plenty of people who write BL and GL, and there are a good number who are......   2 reply

I'm pansexual and I don't really identify with any gender ... but most likely I would be a gay guy ... oh but my body is female unfortunately ... so I would say yaoi is stimulating for me even if it is extremely unrealistic Σ( ̄□ ̄||) for a person who also has real anal sex it is sometimes really bad to read as everyone just has sex withou......   2 reply

BL is a massive category that has existed over years and a lot of the books from the early 2000s are just shoujo romance manga with 2 men. BL also ranges form fluff to porn sometimes the odd perspective changing story moment can happen. I think all the community issues are just children and/or people who read 5 books that were published in 2004   2 reply

I will be quick. Writing gives an author unlimited freedom. Your hatred and closed-mindedness is nerve-wracking.   2 reply

Hi! I'm a gay man (technically nonbinary, but who's counting?) and I read a LOT of BL. I do enjoy it a lot! However, I also recognize that there are a lot of themes in BL that are harmful. It can be easy to say "but it's fiction", but it's also important to remember that fiction can and will shape the way we interact in the world, even unconsciou......   2 reply

I think you're making a mistake painting an entire genre with a broad stroke. I'm someone you don't want to hear from but I feel compelled to answer coz I think you're going with a sledge hammer at a problem that needs to be analyzed deeper. As with any other genre, one of the biggest problems with this genre is that there is a challenge in finding......   reply

yea I know how you feel, but the thing is, the target demographic for bl is NOT the lgbtq community. it wasn’t meant for the gays, lesbians, and everything in between. it targets straight women/girls and thats why they dont portray it actually or at all. And please remember that all works are fiction. with the underlying misogynistic theme of bl ......   3 reply
