idk if i really count, but as a gay / mostly aromantic trans guy i read it to sort of fill a void within me lol. i like seeing characters interact since i don't really feel romantic attraction myself so it kind of brings some romance into my life from time to time. i guess the reason their behavior is portrayed the way it is is highly due to the ja......   3 reply

screaming about the misogynistic traits etc in stories isn't gonna do shit, especially on a website like this. If you have a problem go talk directly to authors. please understand that the creators don't live in westernised countries so don't find it surprising if being gay is depicted as bad in a manga.   2 reply

I hate most of the BL fans. I’m okay with reading it for fun but some fans will actually see yaoi as representation. They are really the worst kind of people.   1 reply

I read it for the sex mainly, not to look for ways to be offended. In short, I enjoy reading BL in general and if there happens to be a series the rubs me the wrong way, I drop it, simple as that. As the saying goes, different strokes for different folks. I may like a series you don’t; life goes on. BTW, I’m asexual.   1 reply

I'm pansexual, I'm also a switch. So reading some bls I enjoy seeing a more vulnerable side of a male. I feel like it is not as common to see such a raw vulnerability in men due to societal pressures. That being said, I know yaois can be very over the top and unrealistic. As a switch, I really don't like how most yaois have like a very black and ......   reply

I'm a bi trans Masc guy, and I do really enjoy Yaoi and BL. I read it mostly because I like seeing a guy as a bottom or, for stories without sex, as the guy being the one pursued. So I do read straight couples too but typically only ones where the girl is the more Dom and or top one which are unfortunately few and far between. I started reading BL ......   reply

Dude, I totally feel you. I read BL bc I want a good romance, but a lot of it is just blatant fetishism or homophobic? The majority of it is made for the type of straight girls who love their "uwu soft hot yaoi gaybies" and want a gbf but call lesbians gross and predatory lmao. Don't get me started on Yuri - it's so hard to find ones, especially ns......   3 reply

im bi and i read bl but its sometimes uncomfortable to read bc of how misogynistic they're even sometimes they talk of gay people in a negative way. it pisses me off when they dont dare to use the word gay bc "its disgusting" or sometimes they even have the audacity to say they are not gay/bi they just like that specific character. and the worst is......   1 reply

Bi woman here and I answer this by saying that while I know BL is not the best representation especially BLs from the 1990 to 2000s, BL is an overall good genre to me that is like any other genre it’s it’s highs and lows. The problems in BL are not ONLY problems in BL, there is rape, abuse, and misogyny in every genre so it’s stupid to get on......   reply

I don't like the heterosexual elements in yaoi as well as the sexual approach .... like "top" "bottom" and "uke" "seme " terms really bother me. The sex is unrealistic in yaoi and sometimes the relationship also is. (Like how a guy can fall in love of a lunatic harasser and rapist man ;;) The best BLs would be the ones with a realistic environment......   reply
