reading bl is so exhausting for a number of reasons (at least for me) and yes it is not a representation of the community itself so it's honestly fucking disgusting when some would equate it to reality. it's also horrifying that individuals who are self-proclaimed homophobic would admit with their whole chest that they fetishize gay men and it makes me sick. plus the underlying misogynistic theme of a lot of bl titles
I completely agree with how exhausting reading bl is; I think the reason so much of it is so clearly stereotypical or even edging homophobic is that the writers have an ideologized and fantasized image of what gay relationships are meant to be.
