reading bl is so exhausting for a number of reasons (at least for me) and yes it is not a representation of the community itself so it's honestly fucking disgusting when some would equate it to reality. it's also horrifying that individuals who are self-proclaimed homophobic would admit with their whole chest that they fetishize gay men and it makes me sick. plus the underlying misogynistic theme of a lot of bl titles
I think it depends if the bl is explicit or not. In too many explicit bl everything is around sex and the plot just becomes void once the protagonists bang. It’s also crazy how some don’t give a damn about consent, too often I felt uneasy reading because the character keeps saying no all along and I mean that’s just rape..
