Christians and Homophobia
No hate to anyone here, I just want to ask a genuine question and I want to hear your honest opinions/answer about it.
So, As a christian myself I never understood with the massive homophobia in the christian community. Can a gay dude be Christian? Most people might answer it as "No, because that would mean you're sinning" but aren't we always sining? For example, Me on this site LoL There's nobody in this world who's actually an "angel" or "hasn't sin" and I think people are always exaggerating it when it comes to Lgbtq. So, Can gay people be Christian?
Also ye dont give me that "ask reddit" crap. If i wanted to do that, I would already.
Yes, many Christians believe you can still be a Christian if you're gay, though acceptance and interpretations vary widely among different denominations and communities, with some emphasizing inclusivity and love, while others adhere to traditional teachings that view homosexual behavior as sinful.
It has been stated in the Bible (Leviticus 18:22)...... reply
I'm Christian and I do believe LGBTQ people can be Christian. In fact many people are queer and have religious beliefs. The very first lesbian couple I ever knew were classmates of my parents studying theology in a Lutheran seminary. Religion is a worldview and worldviews are personal and therefore do not necessarily have extreme boundaries and ca...... reply
I grew up in a baptist community and am no longer christian and It's true that Christians are for the most part, extremely homophobic, you're just an exception.
I also have many lgbtq+ friends, many of whom I knew back when I was still Christian. Some of them left the religion and some stayed. Some were never part of the religion and will never be...... 1 reply
As far as I’m aware, I think it depends on your sect of Christianity? You have the “all are welcome here” Christians but you also have the Christians that cherry pick from the Bible to justify why a Christian can’t be gay or whatever.
In the end it’s just religion, and I’d rather you follow a religion you feel most comfortable with ins...... reply
Believe it or not most Christian people are people who stick to their families rules and presets. It's drilled into their heads as children to the point where they don't question it anymore and simply accept it as they don't want to disappoint their Christian fellows
speaking from experience. Like literally Muslims Hebrews Christians all of them. ...... reply
Closeted atheist speaking: Christians in my denomination look down upon lgbtq+ as an evil and a distraction from the lord for not being ‘natural’ to how god created you. For example, one of the leaders talked about this person that was transgender, but found the lord and detransitioned. 99% sure it’s fucking bullshit. I’ve personally heard...... 2 reply
I am as well a Christian, and the answer is yes. A gay person can be Christian.
Christianity is a relationship between the person and God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. (Not the order I've said because the Holy Spirit is to guide you and help grow your faith, the relationship is between you Jesus - for to get to the father, you must yo through the s...... 1 reply
Idk but for me yeah, my sister used to be active in the church before college (we're catholic but I'm not that active anymore) and there's LGBT members and other members of the curch are chill like that. Maybe that depends on the community and the people around you since there's Christians I know respect LGBT people and are friends with them and so...... reply
I believe gay people can be christian. there will always be extremist and people who aren’t as up tight- this applies to religions and basically everything in the world. Majority of people would say “yes if they repent” but according to how I was raised, inflicting fear and guilt onto people is NOT very christian either lol. Moral of the stor...... reply
