Christians and Homophobia
No hate to anyone here, I just want to ask a genuine question and I want to hear your honest opinions/answer about it.
So, As a christian myself I never understood with the massive homophobia in the christian community. Can a gay dude be Christian? Most people might answer it as "No, because that would mean you're sinning" but aren't we always sining? For example, Me on this site LoL There's nobody in this world who's actually an "angel" or "hasn't sin" and I think people are always exaggerating it when it comes to Lgbtq. So, Can gay people be Christian?
Also ye dont give me that "ask reddit" crap. If i wanted to do that, I would already.
Lapsed Catholic here. Grew up in a Catholic household, but not a super religious one, even if we went to mass on Sundays and i have all my sacraments, but the way I’ve always interpreted the Bible verse about not laying with a man as you would a woman is that you can love whoever, sex is the sin, and since pretty much sex is a sin anyway, then th...... reply
Okay i am a born again christian, was raised in a born again christian household, being LGBTQ is not a sin, God said to come as you are, when you come to him and develop a lasting relationship with the holy spirit you will change whether you like it or not you will change, the bible said homosexuality is a sin, lust is a sin, gluttony is a sin and ...... reply
Christianity is like a big ol bandaid that many Christians use as a pass to hate on others for being different. There is no "love thy neighbor as thyself" there is only "if you believe in God, then he forgives your sins because you believe and Jesus died on the cross and blah blah blah..." It has roots in corrupt people, hence the Protestant Reform...... reply
Christian is a one big thing that has many different names for a believer, for example Catholics, Born Again, Inc, etc. I don't why I said this but some of the ppl that is in the example are more strict like like ppl who are born again. (My experience)
For me, Yes, you can be gay while you're a Christian. Unless you're a bad guy then that's when ...... 2 reply
As someone who has grown up christian and barely identifies with the religion anymore, this is how I see it:
Christianity relies heavily on 'the great commission' - "go out and preach the word to all people". It's already common knowledge that the Bible has a lot of mistranslations and many Christians will intentionally seperate themselves from wha...... reply
I take it you are a bit gay and you want to somehow make amends with your God? Look no further, a full and comprehensive guide on piety is down below.
---The problem---
Christianity, as any other religion, undermines any ability to make logical argument on what you 'should' and 'should not' do. 'Thou shalt not kill,' He said - but look at what He...... reply
As a fellow Christian myself, The whole "homophobia" thing going around Christians makes me irritated.
The 4 points I've mentioned here is an explanation to "I've never understood homophobia in the Christian Community"
1.) God ordered us to love ourselves, our brotherhood(other people), and our enemies.
I believe the so called "Christians" who HA...... reply
Lgtbq is not a sin just so you know not reprocriating or how you spell it is not a sin god says follow what your heart tells you but keep god within you, it's not word for word but I remember something with that exact context plus they always change the bible I remember there was a verse where the original line was smth like "a man shouldn't be wit...... reply
Hi! I'll drop my own opinion as well. I grew up as a Christian as well in a baptist community. We are very strict and as well condemn homosexuality. I also thought why Christian people hate them when one of our beliefs is "to love thy neighbour as thy self", not hate others and forgive others just as how Jesus had forgiven us. As i understood deepe...... reply
