What's fundamental to a good story?
I think this question is kind of hard because it's so subjective imo. But for me what makes or breaks a story are the characters. They don't even have to be the best characters as long as they 1. actually do shit 2. Have personalities.
1. Good Pacing
2. Well Written Characters (having depth, a feeling of originality, a feeling they’re actually alive, etc.): be it a psychopath, a heinous criminal, a god, or the nicest person in the world, they can be whatever as long as they are well written
