Mistaken sexuality?
I talk about my OTPs quite a lot, so I'm not surprised that my mother thinks I'm gay.( ̄∇ ̄") She comes up to be talking about how her new show has a lesbian pair now, and said "You like that their gay, right?". I mean, nothing wrong with being gay, but I just don't feel comfortable knowing my mother really doesn't understand my sexuality!╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭
Anyways, how did you deal with it? This isn't limited to just straights mistakes for gays, but it's for everyone! How did you explain, please tell me.... ( T﹏T )
I'm ace and aro ^^
All of my friends know that I'm ace and aro, that's one of the first things I tell them (once they're drunk of course). I do that because I know that it decreases the chances of a friend wanting to date me ( = losing said friend).
Unfortunately it wasn't enough with one of my friends, who first thought I was a lesbian-in-hiding....... reply
I always get mistaken for a lesbian. I am not totally but mostly straight and genderquer and that´s why I feel very gay sometimes. I think peole tend to notice that. Also I very much am a femenist and equalitarian (how the f*** do you spell that?) and a lot of people think femenists hate men and therefore have to be lesbians. So my sexuality is ki...... reply
I was mistaken for ace back in high school for about 18 months by my friends. I didn't learn about this until I was hanging out with one of them and making all sorts of comments about the boys soccer team playing shirts v skins on the next field.
"Oh! So... I guess you're not ace, then?"
"What? No. Why would you even think that?"
"You never join...... reply
I have a really funny story about that! I met a girl at work a couple years ago and we became best friends right off the bat. Within a month or so, we knew everything about each other (which is funny since I have major trust issues...). At the time, I was 22 and I would go stay the night at her apartment all the time. We both worked the afternoon/e...... 1 reply
I'm actually asexual, for now, and my parents never question my sexuality. I know my mom, not my dad, she kept telling me she'll support me whichever sexual orientation I present. I didn't buy that very well. My family being Asian and me, understanding my tradition very well didn't help, one bit. Right now, my parents doesn't care my love life, exc...... reply
I would just ignore it, I mean if you try to deny it strongly or make a point to tell people your not . . . well ... they're probably just going to think even more that you are gay.
I mean I dont think there is anything you can say that will completely convince them, If it really bothers you then you can tell your mom about it and she might stop ...... 2 reply
My parents believe that I'm a lesbian. They have arranged many "new friends" meetings as many Asian parents do and even attempt to send me to "doctors" to get treatments. I just never tell them that I'm actually a bi. So, I just moved away 6 years ago and never come back once. Using school as an excuse is awesome lol. Luckily, my work requires me ...... 3 reply
