I think some girls are ok with gay men because they are no sexual threat. They can be attractive men that you don’t need to attract. A gay guy friend is often a truly good friend (at least in my experience) and there is no pressure or expectation other than to be a good friend.

I think it comes from feeling somewhat threatened from a visceral point of view.
