Yaoi/BL is boring

Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying ALL BL is boring, there are a few I really loved, but when you look at the genre as a whole it goes really downhill. Obviously not everyone expects a masterpiece when trying out new stories but something that I realized after trying out the boys love genre for several years is that even though there’s some highs the lows are unbelievably bad. The yaoi fandom has shit tastes, it’s all a bunch of regurgitated tropes, characters and stories that are made without a second thought. I don’t even think many authors try because no matter what they do it will sell just as long as there’s two handsome men. My question is, why? Why do you guys settle for such garbage. Some people say that the BL genre has a limited amount of media but I believe that is far from true, specially in the present. Comparisons can be made to the shoujo and Yuri genres, Yuri being the most limited out of the three, but in my opinion the things shoujo had to offer at it’s peak are so much better than my favorite BLs. I just wished people tried harder to make complex characters and stories more common instead of having to find a bunch of diamonds in the rough. In the end I just realized that BL is not for me, I find much better and complex relationships between men in other medias although they might be subtle.
