With the amount of women/straight women reading bl you’d think they’re reading it because they’re both men but they don’t treat bottoms as men. Bottoms are constantly portrayed AND treated like women(in a weird caricaturistic/misogynistic way) … not to say that men that are feminine are automatically seen as women, I don’t think that’s the case much irl. I’m talking about in the bl realm. This is just something I’ve noticed a lot and I wonder if anyone else agrees or noticed the same thing. I’m always finding they’re throwing the word “slut” around for sexually active bl bottoms but rarely for bl tops. (The bottoms are usually untouched virgins too…) like it’s so weird especially since the audience is primarily female it weirds me out how people are accepting this. Like the dynamic of straight women reading bl is so weirdly interesting to me (like how some find it more acceptable men get raped in comics than women) Are women reading bl treating bl bottoms as self inserts?? Do you guys find this weird? What’s your thoughts!?
yes i 100% agree some people will go out of their way to try and convince you that they read bl because "since there's no woman, its harder to self insert". i don't believe that at all. what i do believe is that since the mc is a man and not a woman, the woman reader doesn't feel like he's competition.
