Like other than religion, I don't understand how when people ship two male characters they say "but they're kids!" like damian x anya is cute but killua x gon is like suddenly weird and sexual to you? Homophobia has been around as long as homosexuality has. The Romans and Greeks fucked anything that moved. But it was the rise of Christianity that made homophobia what it is today. Religion will be the downfall of civilization and eventually, mankind.
